Fish's first solo performance in Portugal occured
in 1990. Fans were still recovering from the split between Marillion
and Fish. Fish played two memorable concerts (old Cinema Alvalade,
in Lisbon, and Coliseu do Porto) presenting his debut solo album,
and singing many Marillion classics.
In 1994 Fish was announced in the line up of the "Queima das
Fitas de Coimbra" festival. Many fans travelled to the city
students, but only for lack of honesty the name Fish was kept in
the bill until the concert night when he had never acceptd. the
invitation to play in Coimbra.
Fans had to wait until 2005 to see the Scottish giant in Portuguese
land. This time it was in Azores (Terceira Island), to a Summer
concert when Fish was preparing his "Misplaced Childhood"
20th anniversary tour. This was followed by a return to Lisbon,
in 2006 to present the same tour. It was a single concert in Aula
Magna on November 11, to an audience of 1600 people, with live internet
broadcasting.
